About You

Note that we have limited ability to accept college students, especially those who do not reside locally year-round.

If so, please explain your plans and timeline. This helps us understand your long-term availability.

Personal Statement
Additional Questions by Position

Becoming an EMT requires 200+ hours of coursework, skills practice, and clinical rotations — typically over a 12–16 week intensive program. Please describe how you plan to fit this into your schedule.

In addition to class hours, EMT candidates ride with an active crew as a trainee. Can you commit to one or two four-hour shifts per week during training?

New Jersey 3-Year Service Commitment: The State of New Jersey requires a commitment of three years to responding to at least one call per month, or being on shift at least 15 hours per month, with a NJ volunteer squad. If the state's Training Fund is used to cover EMT class costs and you do not meet this commitment, you will be responsible for reimbursing the State of New Jersey for the cost of training and continuing education.

Driver training includes approximately 10 hours of supervised driving to local hospitals, a 4-hour CPR class, a 6-hour emergency vehicle operators class, the ability to pass a cone course, and one to two 4+ hour shifts weekly with a crew as you drive under supervision to accumulate a requisite number of calls. This can take one month or several months depending on your availability and availability of training slots.

2-Year Driver Commitment: Montgomery EMS invests significant time and resources to train ambulance drivers. In return, we require a minimum two-year service commitment from all driver candidates.
